For 3 years in a row, I created a reading of a play that ran for 1 performance on the Saturday night of Old Fashion Christmas Weekend at The Historical Society.
This year, as the planning for the holiday season started I realized how much had changed in just a few months. We had launched RTC in May, a new professional theatre company that will be The Resident Company at The Armory once the renovation is complete in 2016 (Uptown is creating a beautiful 350 seat theatre in downtown West Chester), and we had started to produce shows as fundraisers that were consistently selling out. It was nice to take a moment and realize how far we had come in such a short time since the hardest thing to do when you're starting a new business is to stop and look at what you've done instead of constantly focusing on what there is to do!
I decided to keep the tradition of the Uptown Holiday Show going, but now have it be produced by RTC, and benefit both Uptown and RTC.
We are now in rehearsal for a 1940's radio play version of "It's A Wonderful Life". We have 6 amazing professional actor who play all the parts, and (for the 4th year) singers from The Concordia Choral Arts to sing the carols woven into the show.
We are thrilled to be working on the 4th annual Holiday Show to help bring theatre to West Chester, and hope to see you all there!
